John who has been buying and renovating property since 1968 is still investing in and purchasing properties in West Hull. John says: “We have just completed two recent additions in the Anlaby Road area,” The Tweed Accommodation team, have now moved on to the next project which is already well under construction.
Despite the ongoing expansion of the business, John still remembers buying his first house in 1968 whilst working along side his father in his property company H.W.Tweed & Son.
History is now repeating itself, as Russell (John’s son who is also in the property trade) is helping run the family business. This will help to ensure the good name of Tweed Accommodation - which has built up a fine reputation over many years - will continue.
John is treasurer and membership officer of The Hull & District landlords Association, an organisation consisting of 60 reputable landlords, who abide by a strict code of conduct laid down by its committee. All the members support the Hull City Council registration scheme, which is an initiative that sets high standards in multiple occupation houses, in order to protect both landlords and tenants.
Like any other successful business, Mr Tweed realises that the customer’s needs are a key factor.
“We promote good landlordism” says John, “We treasure
and look after all our tenants, in fact we probably have the best set of
tenants in West Hull, after all a happy tenant is usually a good tenant”.
